26th June 2023

2San, a global supplier of high-quality innovative healthcare products and solutions, is partnering with the UK’s largest independent pharmacy business and third largest pharmacy chain Well Pharmacy. Together the businesses hope to enable more people across the UK to have access to affordable and accurate in vitro diagnostic tests, supported by expert pharmacists, from 26 June 2023.

• At-home tests will be available in 492 stores and online, competitively priced, starting at just £8.99.
• The products will target common health concerns, from urinary tract infections to iron deficiency, enabling earlier diagnosis and supporting pharmacists' new role in frontline care delivery.
• This comes after 79% of consumers said they would welcome at-home testing.

The partnership will see 11 self-diagnostic tests go into 492 Well Pharmacy stores, as well as being available online with express 24hr delivery options. The full range will include

The demand for readily available at-home tests is growing both in the UK and globally. Recent research by IPSOS found 91% of consumers are happy with the process of self-diagnostic testing - with 83% being content with testing for infection related issues, 82% surrounding health and wellness and 42% targeting gender related matters, e.g. fertility tests.

This is supported by the latest market research predicting the global at-home testing market size is estimated to surpass $45 million by 2031, growing at a CAGR1 of 10.5% from 2022 to 2031. Correctly supported by healthcare professionals, 2San envisages rapid at-home testing can play an important part in improving population health by identifying disease early.

Neil Ashworth, Non-Executive Chair at 2San, comments comments: “Over the last few years we’ve seen more and more companies offering expensive at-home diagnostics directly to the public, testing for a wide range of biomarkers that are often not clinically useful. This is partly responding to consumer demand - the public are now accustomed to self-testing.

“At 2San we’re committed to offering affordable, high-quality, targeted testing for common conditions, supported by pharmacists. We understand that although there are public health benefits to increasing access to low-cost diagnostics, such as early detection and better disease management, support and onward care are needed by expert healthcare professionals. This is why we’re excited to work with Well Pharmacy to launch this range, supporting pharmacists to provide first-line care for common conditions, informed by data.”

George Sandhu, Deputy Superintendent Pharmacist at Well Pharmacy, said: “We are delighted to be working with 2San and to be able to begin stocking these tests, which will help people take control of their health and seek help and support if needed.

“Early detection in many conditions is key, and we are working closely with 2San and our pharmacists to ensure support and guidance is given to customers who use these tests to detect certain conditions.”

The 2San tests will be available in Well Pharmacy stores and online from 26 June 2023. Tests will begin at RRP £8.99.
