2San announces formation of Scientific Advisory Committee and inaugural members

23rd August 2022

2San is excited to announce the formation of our new Scientific Advisory Committee (SAC) composed of renowned medical, science and technology experts and experienced innovation leaders, improving our ability to drive innovation in the market place and strive towards our goal to deliver better care, better life.

Our SAC brings together a group of renowned industry leaders with world-class knowledge and experience across various scientific fields including diagnostics. Together they will help to further our mission to grow and deliver even more impacts to improve outcomes for patients globally.

Mark Hewlett, CEO of 2San, commented:

Our aim is to deliver affordable, accessible, sustainable and high-quality products and services to the healthcare sectors and forming a SAC is the next step on that journey. We are incredibly honoured to have a number of remarkable and accomplished medical and scientific leaders join our Scientific Advisory Board.

Our members bring world-class knowledge and expertise across various scientific disciples and offer an unparalleled wealth of experience in key fields such as diagnostics. Together they will play an integral role as our company continues to grow, supporting our mission to support better care and enhance lives globally.

The role of our SAC involves being responsible for providing independent scientific advice to help inform decisions being made throughout the business, including analysis methods, policy creation and highlighting future concerns within their respective field. Our members will also offer expert, independent scientific advice and insight to government organisations, healthcare providers and businesses on key issues supporting public health, in the UK and internationally.

We are thrilled to announce the inaugural members of our Scientific Advisory Committee:

Dr Cosima Gretton joins 2San as our founding SAC member and we are thrilled to have her represent us and importantly, join us on our mission to deliver better care, better life.

She brings considerable expertise as our Scientific Advisor, having worked within the office of the Chief Scientific Officer Dame Professor Sue Hill at NHS Test & Trace.

Dr. Gretton was responsible for diagnostic innovation centred primarily on Loop Mediated Isothermal Amplification (LAMP) technology when applied to saliva samples taken from symptomatic and asymptomatic individuals. This technology was deployed within the NHS amongst other settings, to aid the rapid diagnosis of the SARS-COV-2 virus and prevent further onward transmission. Her rich background and varied experiences place her in a unique position to learn with an open mind and see from a perspective that is not only patient centric, but planet centric too. Her tenacity and drive to improve current ways of working and accepted norms have seen her succeed where others would have failed, and this was challenged to the limits during her tenure under government employ.

Our Scientific Advisory Committee is also proud to announce Valerie Palmieri as our Managing member.

Valerie joins 2San with over 40 years' leadership experience in the diagnostic laboratory industry. Serving in numerous sales, operations, and executive leadership positions for both laboratory service and consulting organisations.

Before joining Aspira Women's Health, Palmieri was CEO/President of MOMENTUM Consulting, a national strategic life science consulting practice. She also served as CEO/President of two healthcare start-ups that resulted in a successful exit for one and won her recognition as one of the "Top 10 US Entrepreneurs of Springboard Enterprises" for the other.

She spent six years as National Vice President of Anatomic Pathology Operations with LabCorp, the successor company to DIANON Systems where she served as Senior Vice President of Operations and was a key leader in the sale of DIANON to LabCorp in 2003. She brings extensive experience of the diagnostics industry to 2San having served as a Chairman, Board Member, CEO/President, and Consulting Principal in other organisations with oversight for multiple locations, 1,000 + employees, including sales, marketing, customer retention, finance, compliance, quality assurance and operations.

Mark added:

We will continue to expand our SAC to further enhance our capabilities and support greater innovation in healthcare, and we look forward to working with these outstanding individuals and leaders to advance the support we can provide to government organisations, healthcare providers and businesses in the UK and globally.
